Hamilton State School is set in pleasant and spacious grounds.  The main building is heritage listed and comprises of four rooms with a wide, open verandah. The new library (Building Education Revolution funded) is well equipped with new furniture and is used as the technology hub of the school.  Adjacent to the main building is a separate Early Years classroom with an outdoor area and huge deck. Both these buildings were air-conditioned in 2007.  A multi- purpose Arts room, located under the main building, provides a suitable space for our After School Care.

The landscaped grounds include an avenue of heritage listed Moreton Bay fig trees and our living emblem, a leopard tree.  In the front of the school, parents and students have planted native shrubs and developed forest areas to attract native fauna. A vegetable garden is tended by students with produce being used by the students. Picnic tables and chairs are situated throughout the school grounds.

The school grounds offer a variety of play areas. There are 2 adventure playgrounds (junior and senior), a 10 station fitness circuit, sand play areas, a multi-purpose court used for tennis, basketball, netball and games skill practice.  The court is available for hire after hours and has lighting for night time use.
