A feature of this school is the active and supportive Parents’ and Citizens’ (P&C) association. The evidence of their commitment to the school is their achievements in: improvement of facilities (computers, canteen, parent room, playground equipment) and involvement in school development planning and review.
The school is interested in meeting the needs of the local community. The input of parents is valued and the school recognises the importance of building open and honest communication and linking school with home and community. Parents are welcome to participate in various ways: helping children with reading, cooking, art and craft activities; assisting at swimming, participation in the grounds committee, policy formulation and contributions to cultural days and special events.
The Hamilton State School P&C association is an inclusive, voluntary, not-for-profit, organisation affiliated directly with the school. Operating under its constitution the P&C represents adults from the community; especially the parents and guardians of students at the school, to promote the interests and facilitate the development and further improvement of Hamilton State School.
The P&C works closely with the principal, providing supplemental income to the school by way of business initiatives and fundraising activities held throughout each school year, and actively assisting the school with the numerous projects through its voluntary resources. The dates of all P&C meetings are advertised in the school’s fortnightly newsletter.
The P&C conducts monthly general meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 3:15pm in the library building). An annual general meeting (AGM) is held in March where the executive committee is voted in for that year and the dates for the general meetings are set. All parents are very welcome to attend these meetings and their participation is encouraged.
